January 23 and 24th- Old Homestead and a Nice Surprise

Yesterday for breakfast I had a cinnamon raisin bagel and a glass of OJ. For lunch, I broiled a couple of New York Strip steaks and paired it with some corn and green beans. For dinner, Jody and I met up with my poker friend Tom (not to be confused with Ton from the previous entry) and 5 other online poker players for a dinner at Old Homestead at Borgata. Jody and I had been there once before and had a very enjoyable dinner complete with MONSTER steaks and great service. Yesterday was no different. I drank a couple of Coronas and Jody had a glass of Riesling. For appetizer, we split a Jumbo Crab Cake which was absolutely phenomenal. For my main entree, I got the Kurobuta Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop (pictured below) cooked medium. The flavors on the meat were unlike anything I have ever tasted before. I had a little bit of lobster from Tom's surf and turf and that was also amazing. I highly, highly recommend Old Homestead if you are in the Atlantic City area.

Today, I had another cinnamon raisin bagel for breakfast. For lunch, I ate the leftover steak from yesterday's lunch with the corn and greenbeans along with a couple of glasses of red wine. For dinner, we were at the mall so we decided to grab something there. Growing up, one of my regular places to eat at the mall was Flamers Grill. Unfortunately, that location shut down several months ago ( I would not be able to eat there anyway because there are 61 locations). Today, I discovered that a new place had opened called Whimby's Burgers and Fries. I did some research and spoke with the guy at the front counter and found out there were only 2 locations. The guy was really friendly and personable which is always a good start for a new place. I got a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, pickles and ketchup along with curly cheese fries. Everything was very fresh and the fries were very good.

Hopefully I'll start eating a little bit better soon. Despite the massive amounts of food I've been eating lately, I feel like I've probably lost about 5 lbs since the New Year without really trying. I don't think I have any big eating plans for the next few days so I should be able to get in a Top 5 list soon.
